Chess, a game which developes player’s perspective, improves memory, deepens focus, elevates creativity, boots planning skills. It also increases selfawareness and protects against dementia. Considering these facts in mind, first time in the history of Indian Chess, Gujarat State Chess Association and Children’s University, Gandhinagar signed Memorandum of Understanding for betterment of Chess game and spread awareness about this game in each and every part of Gujarat. Under the guidance of Vice Chancellor of Children’s University Dr. Harshad Patel, Mr. Amit I. Jani (Registrar) signed and exchange MoU with Gujarat State Chess Association (under the guidance of Mr. Ajay Patel (President of Asian Zone 3.1.7, FIDE), Mr. Bhavesh Patel (Vice President, All India Chess Federation and Gujarat State Chess Association). The main purpose behind this Memorandu of Understanding is to spread Chess game in each and every part of Gujarat, give online and offline coaching to all the players completely free and to give national and international level coaching to the players and to encourage them by giving all the basic facilities. During this occasion on behalf of FIDE (World Chess Federation) Mr. Jerry Douglas Nash (Chairman, FIDE Chess in Education Commission) and on behalf of All India Chess Federation, GM and Dhyanchand Awardee Mr. Abhijit Kunte remained present. Jerry Douglas Nash: Nash was awarded with Goodwill Ambassador of Chess in Education by Judit Polgar Foundation in Budapest, Hungary and Chess Educator of the Year awarded by University of Texas, Dallas. Currently he is associated with National Council of Teachers of Math and International Reading Association. Kunte has represented India four times at Chess Olympiads (1998–2004), and won seven medals in the Asian Team Chess Championship. He was awarded the Grandmaster title in 2000 by FIDE. A two days “Coaches Seminar” was organised by Gujarat State Chess Association in association with Swarnim Gujarat Sports University at GSC Bank, Nr. Pallav Cross Road, Naranpura, Ahmedabad where 150 well known coaches of Gujarat participated. Free boarding lodging facilities were given to all the coaches during this seminar.
